The St. Julian’s Choral Group was formed in March 2003 and this year the choir is celebrating its 10th anniversary from its formation. The choir is mainly made up of ex-St. Julian’s Choir members.
Ronnie Galea (who was a member of the ex-S. Julians Choir since 1974)took the initiative at that time to form the St. Julian’s Choral Group after the St. Julian’s Choir was dissolved some time before. In 2006 the direction of the choir passed into the hands Pio Dalli after the ex-director of the choir, Mro. Joseph Gatt had to fulfil commitments abroad. Choir organists who had contributed also to the choir’s success in the past were Chev. Patrick Falzon Grech and Mr. Edward Grech. Today the duty of choir organist is entrusted to Ms. Marie Claire Gatt. Over the past years the choir performed in numerous liturgical services and concerts in various churches and locations in Malta, but the highlight in a string of success the choir had since its formation, occurred recently when in October 2012, was invited to participate in an annual concert of choirs organised by the ‘Coro La Sissila’ from Montecchio Maggiore in the Province of Vicenza, Italy. |
